‘First Steps in Counselling’ is an exciting entry level course that is suitable for everyone. It provides a gentle introduction to the world of Counselling and is an excellent choice for those wanting to ‘dip their toe in’; perhaps to enhance your current job role (looks fab on your CV) or maybe to be able to listen to and communicate with friends and family more effectively.
For those wanting to complete full Counsellor training, it is the initial stage of the process and leads onto our ‘Next Steps‘ course, which in turn allows you to apply for the qualifying course: The Diploma in Professional Counselling, which is Accredited by the National Counselling Society.
You will explore the following on this 10-week course:
- What is Counselling?
- How is it different from other listening roles?
- What are the foundation listening skills in Counselling?
- How can I be non-directive and Empathic when I listen, and why should I be?
- What is the role of self-awareness in listening effectively?
Entry requirements for this course are:
There are no specific entry requirements, just a willingness to learn and an understanding that the ‘First Steps’ will not qualify you as a Counsellor on its own.
Fees and Dates:
Course fees are £330 per learner.
The ‘First Steps’ course runs weekly, for 10 weeks in total, excluding half term.
